independent state since 1806. Its sovereignty is documented by its membership of UNO, the
World Trade Organization (WTO), the European Economic Area (EEA) and numerous other
international organizations. Liechtenstein has a
flourishing and highly diversified economy. In addition to a globally oriented industry
and vigorous trade, the financial services of the banking and trust sectors are a major
factor in the national ecnonomy.
